Participants will depart from the hotel
at approximately 8:30 AM for a tour of Philadelphia’s Historic sites including Independence
Hall where the Declaration of Independence was debated and signed, Congress
Hall where Congress met when Philadelphia was the nation’s capital,
the Liberty Bell Center which houses the worldwide symbol of freedom,
and the brand new National Constitution Center, which is described as
the world’s first museum devoted to honoring and explaining the
US Constitution. Participants will feel like they have stepped
back in time as they lunch at City Tavern; a reconstruction
of the tavern that stood in this location as long ago as 1773 and served
as an unofficial
meeting place for famous Philadelphians like Benjamin Franklin
and Thomas Jefferson. Participants will be returned to the
hotel by
4:00 PM.
Wednesday, September 28, 2005
8:30 am - 4:30 pm
The group will again depart
at approximately 8:30 AM. Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of
the city, we will head to Pennsylvania’s
beautiful Chester County for a day in the country. Our first
destination will be Longwood Gardens where we will enjoy a
private tour of this magnificent horticultural showplace that
was once the Pierre S. du Pont estate. We will dine at Longwood’s
very own Terrace Restaurant before proceeding to the Brandywine
River Museum for a guided tour of their collection of American
art including works by three generations of Wyeths. We will
return to the hotel by approximately 4:30 PM.
Tuesday: $150 – Advance; $200 – On-site.
Wednesday: $150 – Advance; $200 – On-site.
Tuesday and Wednesday: $250 – Advance; $350 – On-site.
